Matsumoto City

Equipped with a bento and spring water from the Highlands, I set off for Matsumoto City 17 km away.

My bento, with gratitude to the kind Okusan

Matsumoto Castle, one of the top five castles in Japan.

Oddly dressed, but that's me!

Nawate Street and everything here is Kawaii desu yo!

Can you guess what this is?

For the hashi (chopsticks)

The origin of the street name, a must read!

Nakamachi Street, has maintained its quaint outlook but is slightly more upmarket.

Juxtaposition of the old and the new.

Matsuri at Matsumoto Jinja

Even the tree is decorated.

and the houses are all linked with the white paper to connect the human world and the deity world to welcome the gods.

Look how well they maintained their buildings. The one in the reflection is the old Catholic Church Parish House.

Former Kaichi School, built since the Edo Period in 1800s.

New School and the building still maintain its authentic flavour.

Who says there is no room for art. The diagram represents Matsumoto Temari.

The journey between the towns following the kawa (river).

and many many fields - padi fields, fruits and vegetables

With my friend - my shadow
